He was one of the founders and first settlers of the town of Duxbury, Massachusetts, where he lived out his remaining years. He died Oct 03, 1656, at age 72, at his home in Duxbury. He was buried in Duxbury's Old Burying Ground, now known as the Myles Standish Cemetery.
