WebDec 3, 2024 · Microcephaly is a problem with the way the brain or nervous system grows. Children with microcephaly have heads and brains that are smaller than usual. Children with microcephaly often have intellectual disability, seizures, coordination and balance problems, and other syndromes. WebMicrocephaly means ‘small head size’. It describes babies who are born with a head that is much smaller than expected. Some babies with microcephaly also have poor brain growth.
